A Shell Knob man died on Sept. 23 in a wreck at 2:03 p.m. on Highway 39, one mile north of Shell Knob.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Melissa Hollie, 46, of Shell Knob, was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon northbound when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overturned and struck a fence.
A passenger in the vehicle, James Larson, 57, of Shell Knob, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:10 p.m. by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen. He was transported to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
Hollie suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Hollie was wearing a safety device, and Larson was not. The vehicle was totaled.
This is the 80th fatality of the year for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
