Shirley Lorene Smith, also lovingly known as “Nanny” and “Slim,” 84,of Cassville, Mo., passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
She was born September 26, 1940, in Hazel Valley, Ark., the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline Garnett (Evans) Napier-Hammon, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, Eddie “Lynn” Smith; a brother, Tony Napier and a sister, Wanda Meyer.
Survivors include two sons, Jamey Lane Smith and his wife Sonya of Cassville, Mo. and Jerry Lee Smith and his wife Tori of Cassville, Mo.; two daughters, Lorie Lynn Robertson and her husband Eric of Lavaca, Ark., and Lana Lea Kesner and her husband Jason of Springdale, Ark.; two brothers, J.R. Hammon and his wife Carolyn of Andover, Kan., and Danny Hammon and his wife Jeanine of Lenexa, Kan.; four sisters, Ella Storrer of El Dorado, Kan., Bobbie Sprang and her husband Ben of Olathe, Kan., Janice Pope of Pratt, Kansas and Garnett “Sissy” Dixon and her husband Dave of Derby, Kan.; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She grew up and went to school in Wichita, Kan., graduating from Wichita Southeast High School in 1958.
She was a homemaker her entire life. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Mo., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears conducted the services.
