His House Foundation hosting 15th Anniversary Open House
His House Foundation, located at 25832 State Hwy. YY in Shell Knob, will host an Open House on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is celebrating the 15th anniversary of His House Foundation, and the 5th year of the FUEL Academy. Lunch and a campus tour will be provided.

Voter tabulation equipment testing on Thursday
Barry County Clerk Joyce Ennis reports a public pre-election tabulation test of the electronic tabulating equipment for the Nov. 5 General Election. It will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday in the County Clerk’s Office.
Community Faith Chapel hosting Halloween event
The Community Faith Chapel, located at 13372 Highway 248, will host a Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m.
Firefighters handing out candy
On Oct. 31, the Cassville Volunteer Fire Protection District will be at Station 1 on Sale Barn Road passing out candy to all children in costume from 5-8 p.m. The drive-through hand out requires everyone stay in their vehicles.
Lawrence and Barry County Democrats to meet
Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday at the Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m., with those who wish to eat arriving by 5:30-5:45 p.m., each paying their own meal. Missi Hesketh, the 7th District Democratic candidate for Congress, will be the guest speaker. Hesketh serves as the Mayor of Forsyth in Taney County and is a teacher for the Ozark school system. All area Democrats and like minded friends are invited to attend.
Eagle Rock Howl-O-Ween fest coming
The Eagle Rock Library and Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual Howl-O-Ween Fest on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. with a trunk or Treat and then showing a Halloween Movie at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in decorating a trunk should contact the library at 417-271-3186.
Events at VFW, library in Shell Knob
The Shell Knob VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Shell Knob Friends of the Library will host a Chili and Soup Dinner with Desserts on Saturday at the Shell Knob VFW Hall from 4:30-6:30 p.m. All proceeds go toward the Shell Knob Library Building Fund. The Shell Knob Library will be hosting a “Touch a Truck ” event on Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. There will be several tucks for children to see and explore.
Wheaton FFA Booster Club selling Chiefs raffle tickets
The Wheaton FFA Alumni Booster Club is selling raffle tickets for a prize of four Kansas City Chiefs tickets (Section 34, Row 26, Seats 1-4) and a parking pass to the Dec. 21 game against the Houston Texans. Tickets are one for $5 or five for $20 and may be purchased from JoGina Park at Wheaton City Hall, or by contacting the Wheaton FFA Alumni Booster Club Facebook page. The winner will be drawn on Nov. 9 at the Wheaton FFA Barnwarming, where tickets may also be purchased last-minute. The tickets will be transferred to the winner by email.
Nov. 5 General Election absentee voting ongoing
Absentee voting for the Nov. 5 General Election is ongoing at the Barry County Clerk’s Office in Cassville, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If unable to vote in person, a voter may send a written request to the office of: Joyce Ennis, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO 65625 or fax to: 417-847-5311. The Office will need: name, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, last four digits of Social Security number, phone number, reason for voting absentee and signature. Those who live in the Shell Knob or Monett areas may visit the Shell Knob Chamber or Monett Chamber Office and fill out the absentee application. They will fax it to the Barry County Clerk’s office. Absentee applications are also available at sos.mo.gov. Seligman Bingo Night on first Tuesday of month
A Bingo Night will be held the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Seligman Chamber Event Center, located on Highway 37 north of the city. The building is handicap accessible, and all ages are invited. Bingo cards are $1 per play, and there is no limit on plays. A variety of prizes, excluding cash, will be awarded. Cassville Senior Center hosting monthly dances
The Cassville Senior Center has started a once-a-month dance and dinner event with live music. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the dance is from 7-10 p.m. The Board of Directors for the Senior Center is sponsoring dances at the facility, located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. Dances are held on the first Friday of the month. Everyone is welcome. The July Dance will be held on July 5, going along with Fourth of July Festivities. There will be prizes and a 50/50 Raffle. The admission fee is $5 per person, and the dinner cost is a $5 donation. The menu is potluck, and attendees are welcome to bring a dish. All proceeds go to Senior Center.
Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open weekly
The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. The market has farm fresh produce, flowers, eggs, jams, relishes, baked goods, handmade crafts and more. OATS rides available in Barry County
OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.
Lessons offered before Seligman’s Saturday dances
The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free.
