Two people were injured Oct. 16 in a wreck at 8:05 p.m. on Highway 248.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Angela Kalbaugh, 52, of Aurora, was driving a 2016 Buick Encore eastbound when a bull stepped into the roadway in front of her vehicle, causing the Buick to strike the bull.

Kalbaugh and a passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old female, each suffered moderate injuries. They were both transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Neither were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle was totaled.

Trooper Samuel Carpenter, public information officer for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who was off the clock but still responded to a tex, said he did not know of the bull’s injuries.

He also said if the owner of the bull is determined, that individual would be financially responsible for damage due to failing to contain the animal.
