Cassville native initiated into the Missouri Military Academy Corps of Cadets

On Oct. 19, 2024, Tyller Isbell, of Cassville, was inducted into the 136th Missouri Military Academy (MMA) Corps of Cadets at the MMA Passing Through Ceremony.

Missouri Military Academy is an all-male, college preparatory military boarding school (middle school and high school) with a diverse domestic and international student population.

The Passing Through Ceremony is an MMA tradition that officially welcomes new cadets into the corps after they have completed Maroon Phase training, which includes a cadet handbook test and the Crucible.

The handbook test is a thorough exam of MMA rules and regulations, the Honor Code and Academy history and traditions.

The Crucible is a series of physical challenges cadets must overcome as a team, and this year’s challenges included a physical training test, a six-mile hike with a stretcher carry, a threemile obstacle run with 16 physical challenges, a tactical paintball battle, a rope run, and a modified combat fitness test modeled after the Marine Corps’ standards.

‘Our new cadets reached this significant milestone through teamwork and perseverance,’ said MMA President Brigadier General Richard V. Geraci, USA (Ret). ‘I am proud of how they helped and encouraged each other. For many, this was their first experience with such intense training, and they now stand stronger and more self-assured, with a clearer understanding of their own capabilities and potential.

‘Their commitment and determination make them-and their families- deserving of this special recognition.’

Isbell was awarded and authorized to wear the coveted MMA hat brass that bears the MMA crest. The hat brass symbolizes his official status as a full member of the MMA Corps of Cadets. Isbell will now advance in his MMA training on track for high school graduation in 2027.

Isbell is the child of Jamie Isbell, of Cassville.

According to a press release from the institution, Missouri Military Academy’s rigorous program empowers young men to reach their potential as future college graduates, citizens of character, and leaders in their communities. MMA’s 360˚ Education fosters academic excellence, a healthy lifestyle and physical development, leadership and life skills, positive character development, and personal motivation.
