Monett man dies in Purdy wreck

Cassville man seriously injured in head-on collision

A Monett man died on Wednesday in a wreck at 6:10 p.m. on Highway 37, south of Route B in Purdy.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 44-year-old male was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger northbound when his vehicle crossed the center of the roadway and struck head-on a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, being driven by a 65-year-old male, of Cassville.

The 44-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen at 7:15 p.m. He was transported to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

The 65-year-old male suffered serous injuries and was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Neither of the individuals were wearing safety devices, and both vehicles were totaled.

This is the 101st fatal wreck of 2024 for Troop D of the patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
