Man charged for stabbing

A Seligman man is charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor after allegedly stabbing a person while breaking into a storage building in Cassville on Dec. 4.

Eric Royer, born in 1976, of Seligman, is charged with first-degree assault (attempted murder), armed criminal action and misdemeanor first-degree trespassing.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Deputy D. Harris, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Dec. 4, Royer had allegedly broken into a storage building at 16595 Farm Road 1120 (old trout farm east of Cassville High School).

When Royer was discovered to be trespassing on the property, he allegedly stabbed a victim four times, causing serious physical injury requiring emergency surgical intervention.

After the altercation, Royer went to Mercy Hospital in Cassville and allegedly stated he had just stabbed a person at the incident location.

Harris noted in the probable cause statement Royer has prior incidents of failure to appear in court, and the victim required emergency surgical intervention to avoid a fatal outcome.

Royer is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. A hearing was held on Thursday in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke, and a preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 9, 2025 at 1 p.m
