oods Dr. Darrell Gene Woods, age 75, of Cassville, Mo., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in his home.
He was born on November 16, 1949, and grew up in Cassville.
He graduated from Cassville High School in 1969. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Army as an airplane mechanic in Phu Bai, Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in January of 1972 with the rank of Specialist 5th Class.
After serving in the military, he was called to pastoral ministry. He attended Southwest Baptist University in Boliver, Mo., and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in religious studies. He continued his education and received a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry at Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, Ga.
For 50 years, he preached the gospel, sharing the hope of Christ with others.
For the last five years, Darrell served as the Director of Missions for Barry County.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ina Lea Woods; stepfather, Lloyd Tucker and three grandchildren, Tian, Taden and Tucker Warren.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Cole) Woods; his daughters, Tonya Royal and her husband Michael of Marthasville, Mo., Tracy Warren and her husband Nick of St. Louis, Mo. and Tesia Woods-Nichols and her husband Benjamin of Cassville, Mo.; one brother, David Woods and his wife Charlotte of Aurora, Mo.; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
A celebration of Darrell’s life was held Monday, December 23, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend Jerry Francisco and Pastor Milford Baker conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Mo.
