Eagles bag win over Marionville 

The Purdy boys basketball team (10-6) has split games to start the new year, and the win was a significant one. The Eagles bested Marionville in overtime, 80-73, on Jan. 3, the first victory since the only other win over the Comets in a 2016 Class 2 State Tournament contest. On Friday, Purdy fell to Diamon at home, 63-60. The Eagles played New Heights Christian Academy on Tuesday, and they travel to Sarcoxie next Tuesday.

Bulldogs pushing into conference play

The Wheaton boys basketball team (1-12) is heading into Ozark 7 Conference action soon, hoping to add to its wins column and prepare for postseason play. The Bulldogs recently went 0-3 in the Miller Invitational Tournament, consistently scoring in the 40s but not able to keep other teams off the board. Wheaton fell to Miller, 102-42, Sarcoxie, 63-48, and Fair Play, 53-45. The Bulldogs were at Pierce City on Tuesday and host Thomas Jefferson on Thursday to open Conference play.

Seven Valleys Soccer Club hosting indoor events

Seven Valleys Soccer Club, based in cassville, is hosting Saturday futsal events weekly through Feb. 22. Play is for youth with birth years 20072018, with 2013-2018 from 5-6:15 p.m. and 2007-2012 from 6:30-8 p.m. No experience is necessary, and beginners are welcome. All Saturday futsal will be at the Family Life Center in Cassville, except for on Feb. 1, where a location is to be determined. Participants should bring close-toed shoes and water. There is no fee to participate, and people may pre-register their children at https://tinyurl. com/2v8p7smd.
