A second person has been arrested and charged following an alleged incident where a victim was restrained and sexually assaulted.
Bailey Seely, 28, of Verona, is charged with second-degree sodomy.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Jeremy Berner, authorities responded to a possible disturbance on Dec. 26, 2024, and followed up four days later.
The victim reported being at a residence in Barry County when she was restrained against her will to a bed and physically molested. The victim said while restrained, Seely allegedly put her mouth on the victim’s genitals. The victim also said Seely was told to stop multiple times.
Berner said he had tried to set up an interview with Seely multiple times, but Seely did not follow through, and it was unknown where she was residing.
A warrant for Seely’s arrest was issued on Jan. 27, and she was arrested and booked into the Barry County jail on Jan. 28.
Danny Boyd, Barry County sheriff, confirmed Seely’s charge was related to the same incident for which Jesi Owen, 36, of Purdy, was arrested on Jan. 8, charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.
According to another probable cause statement filed by Berner, the victim reported Owen penetrated multiple orifices by his person and with a device, which after an examination at Cox Monett Hospital, resulted in a genital laceration.
On Jan. 7, during a Mirandized interview at the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Berner said Owen stated he had sexual intercourse with the victim and admitted to the victim being tied up.
Owen is being held in jail on a $100,000 cash bond. A disposition hearing is scheduled for Jan. 23 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
Seely is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $50,000. She has been arraigned, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 27 in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
Owen is also being held in the Barry County jail, with a cash-only bond set at $100,000. He has also been arraigned and a bond hearing was held, resulting in no change to his bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Thursday at 1 p.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke
