MHS Thespians presenting “Matilda” March 13-15

The Monett High School Thespians will present three showings of “Matilda” March 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and March 15 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Monett High School Performing Arts Center, located at 1 David Sippy Drive in Monett. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors 55-and-up and $5 for students.

‘Love Your Heart Breakfast’ on March 20

Cox Monett Hospital will host its “Love Your Heart Breakfast,” a special event dedicated to raising awareness about heart health. The event will feature reduced-cost lab screenings, free health screenings, a complimentary heart-healthy breakfast and educational information on how to live a healthy lifestyle. The event is at 7 a.m. on March 20 in Conference Rooms 1 and 2 at Cox Monett Hospital. Event highlights include:

• Reduced-cost lab screenings: CBC, CMP, HA1C, Lipid Panel, TSH. Cost is $20 (cash or check only). Please fast for 10-12 hours prior to the blood draw.

• Free screenings: Blood pressure, BMI, cardiac and stroke risk screening 

• Heart-healthy breakfast: Enjoy a nutritious meal while learning about heart health and stroke.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to take simple, proactive steps towards better health and to understand their risk factors in order to help prevent heart disease and stroke,” said Kallie Provost, RN, coordinator of the Time Critical Diagnosis program at Cox Monett. “Don’t miss out on this chance to show your heart some love. EncourageHER event at New Site March 28-29

The EncourageHER weekend event for high school girls and women, hosted by New Site Baptist Church, will be held March 28-29 beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The cost is $20 per person and includes snacks, a coffee bar and a build-your-own-bouquet. Childcare, for $5 per day, is available if pre-registered by March 16. Bella Canvas Jersey style T-shirts are also available for $12 per shirt in sizes adult small to 3X, with the purchase deadline also on March 16. T-shirt pickup is at the event. The featured speaker is Holly Snell, who with her sister co-authored the book “Dancing On My Ashes,” about their story and lessons learned throughout their search for the truth after the loss of their husbands. Snell lives in Lake of the Ozarks with her husband and three children, and she is the Executive Director of Hope Women’s Center an unplanned pregnancy clinic. 2025 Spring Shot/Microchip Clinic in April

The Monett MO Dog Pound will host its 2025 Spring Shot/Microchip Clinic on April 26 at 8 a.m. at Monett South Park The event is for dogs only, and services include shots for rabies, distemper/parvo and kennel cough. Microchipping is also available.

First United Methodist hosting bake sale

First United Methodist Church, located at 1600 N. Central Ave. in Monett, will host a baked goods sale from 9:15-11:15 a.m. on March 16. Proceeds will support the church’s pre-teens efforts to attend Marathana Bible Camp in the summer. People interested in donating baked goods to be auctioned may sign up on the page at the church’s lobby or email Lacy at children@fumcmonett.org.

Feel Better Now class offered at Cox Monett Hospital

Feel Better Now is a free six-week class designed for individuals with chronic conditions or for their loved ones. The class aims to help participants learn skills and strategies to manage chronic conditions, improve sleep, communicate effectively with health care providers, enhance overall wellness and more. The classes will be held on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon, starting March 12 and ending April 16, at Cox Monett Hospital, located at 1000 US Hwy 60 in Monett. Barry County Democratic Central Committee meeting

The Barry County Democratic Central Committee will meet on March 11 at 6 p.m. at The Cassville Public Library located at 301 West 17th Street.

Waldensian Presbyterian sets Lent schedule

Waldensian Presbyterian Church, located at 2250 Farm Road 1080 in Monett, will host Ash Wednesday and Lenten services each Wednesday evening during Lent, March 5 through April 9, from 6:30-7:15 p.m. 

VFW Auxiliary Lunch schedule delivered

The VFW Post 4207 Auxiliary will host lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. twice monthly through April, with all meals priced at $8. Each meal includes a salad, dessert and coffee, tea or water (soda is for sale). Meals may be preordered by calling the VFW at 417-235-8394. The March 5 meal is corned beef with cabbage, boiled potatoes and carrots, and cornbread.
