Greg Armstrong: Youth on the move

God is on the move.

No, God is not renting a U-haul for a work relocation.

God is on the move in the lives of children and students.

Over the last several months, I have seen kids lean in, step up and proudly follow Jesus.

While kids having a heart for the Lord is nothing new, there is an increased sense of urgency in reading His word and practically applying those truths to their daily lives.

In the hustle and bustle of student life — filled with exams, late-night study sessions, and the occasional pizza party — there is a quieter yet profound movement happening in the hearts of many young people.

I believe that children always have a desire for the truth. My youngest son is known for always starting his sentences with, “Can I be honest?” If you know anything about him, he is always honest and feels free to speak his mind.

Kids of all ages are beginning to grow weary of the “truth” that comes from the world. Photos on social media that have been cropped, enhanced, edited, colorized, and filtered are far removed from the truth.

Influencers create pseudo- lives that appear to be perfect, they pick and choose what they share, creating an unrealistic expectation of what a life lived for truth looks like.

Students are growing tired of Real Housewife-Below Deck-Bachelor-American Idol drama that floods our homes. The world is swift to tell students who they are or who they should be. Our responsibility is to lead them to the truth.

(Proverbs 22:6).

Students are finding the truth in God’s word. The word is helping them understand the identity that they have in Jesus once they receive His grace. This leads them to grasp the relationship they can have and begin to experience His presence. And finally, it helps them uncover the purpose He has for their lives, and they can release His kingdom to everyone they meet.

This creates a generation that is on the move and they carry the hope of Jesus wherever they go. The impact they have on peers, parents, and schools is remarkable.

Lakeside recently had the honor of hosting the There(4) teen girls event. We had 40 young ladies from across southwest Missouri, along with 20 women of faith to mentor the teens, attend the two-day event.

We were able to witness breakthroughs, relationships reconciled and spiritual awakenings. It was just another shining example of how God is moving in the hearts of our young people.

3 John 1:4 reads, “I have no greater joy than to hear my children are walking in the truth”. I would like to encourage you as a parent, pastor, preacher, teacher, or leader to lead those kids that God has placed in your life to the truth of his word.

Our future is counting on it!
