An arrest warrant has been issued for a Washburn man who allegedly attempted to take rings off the fingers of a victim at Cassville establishment.
Shawn Gaines, born 1988, of Washburn, is charged with first-degree harassment and misdemeanor fourth-degree assault.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Cassville Police Chief Donnie Privett, on March 2, the victim was sitting inside an establishment in the city limits of Cassville when Gaines allegedly sat down at the table, grabbed the victim’s hands and attempted to move two rings, one from each hand.
The victim said she bent her fingers to prevent the rings being removed, and other patrons at the establishment saw her in distress and asked her to join them at their table.
The victim said she did not know Gaines, and the experience was upsetting enough she needed nitroglycerin after returning home to slow her heart rate, due to her heart condition.
Gaines was arrested on the scene for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and released after a 12-hour hold, prior to the harassment and assault charges being filed.
Privett said in the probable cause statement Gaines exhibited signs of aggressiveness and was intoxicated at the time of arrest.
Privett also noted in the statement Gaines has failure to appear warrant for allegedly assaulting law enforcement.
Bond in Gaines’ case with the active warrant has been set at $15,000, cash only.
