Barry County Youth Camp celebrating 60 years

Annual summer camp set for May 26-30 at Camp Smokey

Barry County Youth Camp is set for May 26-30 at Camp Smokey in Roaring River State Park, marking the special milestone of 60 years of serving the children of Barry County.

This annual camp provides a free, fun-filled experience for children who qualify, offering a variety of engaging activities centered around this year’s theme, ‘Nature’s Magic.’

Campers will enjoy a range of outdoor adventures, including crafts, games and safety programs, all designed to create lasting memories while fostering teamwork and personal growth. Barry County Youth Camp relies on dedicated volunteers, and those interested in helping are encouraged to get involved.

The current amount needed per camper is $200. To sponsor a camper or to volunteer, people may email barrycountyyouthcamp@ gmail.com or call 417-236-4779. ‘For six decades, the camp has thrived thanks to the generous support of businesses, organizations, and individuals who donate goods, food, time and money,’ a Barry County Youth Camp press release said.

Each year, the camp also collects clothing donations for children ages 7-10.

Donations must be clean and in good condition and can be dropped off at the following locations: • Century 21 Office – 100 Chapell Dr. Ste G, Monett, MO

• Rollo Insurance Agency – 1001 East Broadway, Monett, MO Monetary donations are accepted year-round and can be mailed to Barry County Youth Camp, PO Box 254, Monett, MO 65708, or dropped off at Rollo Insurance Agency.
