Myra Lea Callaway, age 78, of Exeter, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
She was born March 5, 1944, in Wheaton, Missouri, the daughter of Delmer “Doc” and Verna (Jones) Cantrell. On June 8, 1963 in Ridgley, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Jesse L. “JL” Callaway. They shared fifty-six and a half wonderful years together before his passing on December 29, 2019. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Joe Robert Cantrell and one sister, Mary Catherine Thomas.
Surviving are her two daughters, Robin Day and her husband Bruce of Exeter, Missouri and Karen Mitchell and her husband Todd of Seligman, Missouri; five grandchildren, Bruce Jr., Megan, Lauren and her husband Coda, Morgan and Carlee; four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Myra grew up and received her education in Exeter, Missouri, graduating from Exeter High School. For twenty-five years, she was employed at Jumping-Jack Shoe Company. She went to work at FASCO for twenty-one years until retirement in 2009. Myra enjoyed doing word find puzzles, crocheting and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Exeter.
Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 23, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Exeter, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Jerry Yarnall conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter.
