ALLEN JOHN DURIE

Allen John Durie, age 74, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. Son of John and Marion (Heathman) Durie, Allen was born March 11, 1948, in The Bronx, New York.

Allen grew up in The Bronx, graduating high school there, and going on to attend Bronx Community College. Allen went on to join the United States Army, where he served his country proudly. He served in the Vietnam War from June 1968 to June 1969, receiving several medals for his exemplary service. On May 18, 1974, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Huse; she survives.

Allen was employed in the engineering industry for Regal Beloit for 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 118, serving as Post Commander at one time, and as adjutant for many years until present. Allen enjoyed working on vehicles, mowing the yard, and just about all outside activities.

In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn (Huse) Durie, Allen is survived by one daughter, Melissa (Durie) Owens and her husband Chris, of Pittsburg, Kansas; one sister, Jean Hugel, of Spring Hill, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplin Gregg Mercer officiating.
