CHARLES NEWTON KNATCAL, SR.

Charles Newton Knatcal, Sr., 83, of Purdy, passed away Wednesday, July 6, at CoxHealth Medical Center South in Springfield.

He was born June 14, 1939, in Cooperstown, Ill., the son of Charles E. and Bertha Evelyn (Barnett) Knatcal, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Mary Ridenour and Stella Antle.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles Knatcal, Jr. of Purdy, and Carl Dean Knatcal of Florida; one daughter, Alice Faye Knight of New Jersey; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He attended Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, later joining the United States Marine Corps where he served from June 29, 1956, until April 1, 1959. He had lived in this area for 52 years and had been employed by EFCO Corporation in Monett. He was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church in Purdy.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
