Diane Kay Thompson, 76, of Washburn, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her home.

She was born Nov. 17,1945, in Chickasha, Okla., the daughter of Walter and Jewel Ruby (Roberson) Hunzeker. On Nov. 19, 1979 in Miami, Okla., she was united in marriage to Calton A. Thompson, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents; aunt and uncle and one sister, Mildred Jean McLandsborough.

Survivors include: one son, Tol Ray Thompson and his wife Marcilee of Washburn; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She grew up in Oklahoma graduating from high school in Adair, Okla., later attending Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she attained a bachelor’s degree. Moving to the Washburn area in 1968, she began teaching third grade at Southwest Elementary School in Washburn from where she retired. She was a member of Mission Baptist Church in Washburn.

Services were held Tuesday, July 12, at Mission Baptist Church in Washburn, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial was at Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn.
