Rep. Billy Long, R-MO 7th District, made an appearance at Friday’s Barry County Republican Central Committee Rally in Cassville. Long is now seeking a U.S. Senate seat, one of 21 candidates vying for the slot being vacated by Sen. Roy Blunt, who announced in March he would not be seeking re-election. Long is strong on border security, stating “We must secure our border, finish the wall, reinstate the “remain in Mexico” policy, put an end to sanctuary cities, and enforce a merit-based visa system.” He also said, “ I will support Supreme Court nominees who support ending abortions in the United States. Cupps was elected in a 2019 special election after Scott Fitzpatrick resigned from office to serve as the 47th treasurer of Missouri. Scott Fitzpatrick, Missouri State Treasurer, made a brief appearance at Friday’s Barry County Republican Central Committee Rally in Cassville. Fitzpatrick is seeking the office of State Auditor. He said it takes someone who understands how government works, and mentioned his most recent accomplishments of returning more than $8 million in unclaimed property from state residents, and after cross-checking back child support records, was able to pay out about $2 million in back child support in the first month.
