Sept. 20, 1972 The new, 1973 models of various automobiles went on display in Cassville over the course of the week. The first scheduled appearance of the new vehicles was Thursday, when the Chevrolet lines went out for public viewing at Blalack-Koon Chevrolet. Next, Brown’s For Sales put the 1973 Ford models on display Friday. Both dealerships announced various special events for their showings, along with treats and favors.
Mrs. Georgia Ford, owner of the Sunset Valley Rest Home on West 11th Street announced that she leased the business to Jim Anderson. Ford opened the Rest Home in 1957 and operated it until 1972.
Sept. 15, 1982 Cassville saw a huge gain in sales tax for the month of September. Receipt of $27,038.57 from the Missouri Department of Revenue for Cassville City sales tax is one of the largest since the program was approved locally, city clerk Clara Goostree said. The one-cent city tax is also showing a healthy increase for the year.
Mrs. Joanne Ellis of Cassville was named District 12 National Board Member for the University of Missouri-Columbia Alumni Association. Ellis is one of 54 school alumni from around the nation who make up the association board.
Sept. 9, 1992 The City of Cassville purchased the Seekamp Body Shop property located at Mill and Seventh Streets. In an ordinance passed July 13 a purchase price of $45,000 was accepted by Ron Seekamp. The offer from the city government has previously been turned down. The city said it planned to use the property for fire department access to City Hall. Included in the location will be space for rural department trucks.
Cassville saw storms that dropped 4.7 inches of rain Tuesday, with downpours drenching the region immediately following the Labor Day holiday.
