Seligman ATM burglarized early morning Saturday

The Barry County Sheriff’s Office is seeing information on the whereabouts of three suspects who allegedly burglarized an ATM machine in Seligman early Saturday.

A release from the Office said at about 1:18 a.m. Saturday, a white Ford one-ton pick-up was stolen near Academy Sports in Rogers, Ark., and at about 2:15 a.m., the same vehicle was used by three male suspects to break open the Freedom Bank ATM in Seligman.

The vehicle was found abandoned half a mile north at Rose Tax Service on Roller Ridge Road, with the suspects leaving in a secondary vehicle and fleeing in an unknown direction.

Authorities said one of the individuals was wearing a Star Wars Stormtrooper mask, and another was wearing a skull mask.

Danny Boyd, Barry County sheriff, said deputies are following up on leads, and they believe the suspects are not local residents.

“We don’t think they are from our area, most likely from Arkansas,” Boyd said. “We are trying to get them identified and are working with the feds because a bank is involved.”

Boyd said the suspects were able to remove the front cover of the ATM and take out the money tray.

“We are still waiting on an exact amount,” he said Monday morning. “We are thinking it is around $10,000.”

Boyd said the stolen vehicle was abandoned by some storage units, and authorities believe another vehicle came to pick up the trio after the burglary.

“If you have any information or have home surveillance cameras in the area that may have caught the suspect vehicle on camera, we would love to get in touch with you,” the Sheriff’s Office release said. “Please call 417-847-6556 if you have any information in regard to this case.”

Boyd said members of the community should also remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, especially relating to businesses outside of normal hours.

“There are a lot more people out there who can watch and see what’s going on in their communities, and if you see something hinky going on, call and let us check it out,” he said. “Especially at night when you know a business is closed and you see someone there, we’ll come down to check it. Also try to write down a tag if you can. That gives us something to look for.”
