Joey Rose: Water supply needs to be protected

Dear Editor: Please keep up the work on the free fertilizer issue.

I have gotten samples and I’m very concerned for the future of Barry County water supply. We all have to ban together and get this stopped.

Common sense tells you free is never good, and this quantity of a liquid substance, no matter what it is if applied to land in excess, will no doubt get in our water table.

We have to protect our water supply no matter the cost. Everyone alive gets water from the ground some way or another — no exceptions. I’ve got a farm and I will fight to ban this so called fertilizer a for as long as I live. Let’s get it stopped.

Furthermore, the farmers that allow this spread of crap should have some sort of mandatory pay back to the community. Not only should the company be responsible, but so should the farmers that have allowed this spread on their land also be responsible. They should know better.

By the way, where is DNR? Did they get paid off?

I personally saw a Denali truck wreck just south west of Lomer tower on Highway 76. The truck and trailer, full of the so called fertilizer, laid on its side. The recovery team dumped entire load in ditch so they could upright the truck and trailer.

Why didn’t they pump it out to a different trailer?

I personally saw the so-called fertilizer in ditch and flowing over hills into the hollow. That is a huge red flag.

How can this be happening?
