Janita “Kay” Carter, 67, of Cassville, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at her home.

ShewasbornNovember 30, 1955, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Wesley and Judith Alice Ruth, who preceded her in death.

Also precedeing her inmn death was her husband, Jimmy Lee Carter, and one daughter, Katherine Weyer.

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa West and her wife Nikki of Cassville; one brother, George Ruth and his wife Joann of St. Joseph; one sister, Edna Williamson of Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri and attended St. Joseph High School.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Spring River Cemetery in Verona, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
