Lady Wildcats take 2nd in Kickoff Classic

The Cassville girls soccer team went 2-1 over the weekend at the Cassville Kickoff Classic, opening the season with a runner- up finish in the tournament. The Lady Wildcats began the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Aurora, with goals by Gracen Hilburn and Emma Burndt. Audrey Gosvener and Berndt provided the assists, and Ava Hinson preserved the shutout. In match No. 2, Cassville took on rival Monett, coming up with a 1-0 victory. Gosvener netted the game winner on a Dulce Rivera assist, and Hinson again kept the clean sheet. In the de facto first-place match, Cassville fell to Festus, 4-1, with Gosvener getting the goal on a Berndt assist. Bernt, Gosvener and Rivera were named to the All-Tournament Team. Cassville youth compete at YMCA Area Swim Meet

Four Cassville students qualified for the YMCA Heartland Area Championship Swim Meet. Peyton Vogt, Lindsey VanDerhoef, Jack Chappell, and Jameson Barnes traveled to Edwardsville, Ill., to compete March 17-19. The athletes swim for the Monett YMCA under head coach Charles LaGarce. The team recently took 2nd at the Western Regional Championship meet held at the Monett YMCA. The Heartland Area consists of 24 YMCAs across Missouri and Illinois.
