Jig on the water, March 22

March 22, 2023

As of Sunday, Roaring River was almost 100 CFS, so the water starts clearing a bit faster now.

Dry fly fishing will start getting better. Sight fishing will be much better also.

Still using 9’ 7X leaders for most dries, 6X and 5X for bigger nymphs and buggers. If you’re fishing a bigger streamer, 4X or even 3X is OK.

Caddis are coming off every day, and so are Blue Wing Olives. Midges come off all day, and we are starting to see some tricos every morning also.

Pheasant tail nymphs, hares ears, sow bugs, scuds, copper johns, zebra midges, and burlaps are all working pretty good.

Black, olive, and brown wooly buggers have been pretty good all week.

Mop flies, mega worm, and glo balls have all been pretty good this week.

San Juan worms in pink, Oregon cheese, and orange have all been good this week.

Plastics have been working great, yellow, cheese colored, orange, white, and pink have all been good this week Marabou jigs in white, black/yellow, and olive have all been working.

Gold spoons, rebel crawfish, and little Cleo’s have all been working this week.

Have a great week of fishing.
