James Scroggins, age 85, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. James was born on August 26, 1937, in Seligman, Missouri.
James attended Southwest High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the sheet metal industry all of his life and was an avid reader and enjoyed quail hunting and western movies.
He always looked forward to the summer month to be able to get into his garden, especially cultivating his tomatoes. His favorite car was a baby blue 1957 Ford T-Bird. He was a very quiet soul and a minimal conversationalist; he will be greatly missed by his family.
He married Gwen Brissey, on December 28, 1973, in Miami, Oklahoma; she survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Nola Nickols, of Purdy, Missouri; his grandson, Drew Nickols and his wife Andrea, of Washburn, Missouri; and Owyn and Garrett England.
He was preceded in death by his beloved paternal grandmother, Hattie Scroggins.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at New Salem Cemetery, in Seligman, with Pastor Glen Erwin officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Barry County Library and entrusted to the White Funeral Home & Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
