The Cassville School Board reorganized post-election on Thursday, taking time to recognize the fourth person ever to win five elections to the board.
Becky Henningson, board president from 2018-2022, has been on the board for 15 years and is being replaced by Chad Yarnall, a 6-year board member returning after defeat in the 2022 election.
Henningson received an award and high praise from her fellow board members in recognition of her service.
“Becky has always been a constant, calm voice on the board,” said Jon Horner, who was re-elected to the board this year. “She was that way through good times and the not-so-good times, like when the floor was heaving in the Intermediate school. She was also a teacher when I was in school, so we go way back.”
Jeremy Marple, board president, said Henningson’s board presidency may have been the most unique in school history.
“Becky presided over the board during some of the toughest times ever in our history during the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said. “She handled that valiantly.”
Henningson addressed the board after that initial portion of the meeting closed.
“In the years I have been here, we’ve made a lot of good things happen,” she said. “I think you will continue that, because I know you are all here for the students. Each one of you will continue to fulfill your part of what we’ve been doing.”
With Yarnall, Horner and incumbent victor Chad Johnson sworn in, a new meeting was called to order. Marple was re-elected president, Wade Hermansen was selected as vice president, Stacey Williams was voted secretary/treasurer and Horner was tabbed for MSBA delegate, with Jill LeCompte as the alternate.
