Genealogical and Historical Society to meet
The Barry County Genealogical and Historical Society will meet Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bayless-Salyer House, located at 9th and Townsend streets in Cassville. All persons interested in Barry County history or genealogy are invited to attend. There will be a short business meeting and a short program about something in Barry County’s history. Anyone may attend the meeting, or better yet, bring a story.
Roaring River State Park hosting H2Olympics Saturday
Beat the heat at Roaring River State Park by participating in the H2Olympics 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. This is a free come-and-go event featuring water-related games, crafts and activities. There will be activities for all ages and registration is not required. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. For more information, contact 417-847-3742. Roaring River State Park is located 7 miles south of Cassville on Highway 112 in Barry County.
Exeter elementary hosting screenings
The Exeter school district’s summer screening for Pre-K and Kindergarten will be on July 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call the school to schedule at 417-835-2922, ext 5. Please note that summer hours are in effect, so continue to call if a receptionist is not immediately reached. Pre-K students should be turning 4 before Aug. 1, 2023. Kindergarten students should be turning 5 before Aug. 1, 2023. The following items will be needed to complete enrollment: Proof of residency in the district, birth certificate and immunization record.
Cassville Farmers’ Market open twice per week
The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. Zone 4 hosting ‘Ozarks Got Talent’
Zone 4 Mini Golf & More in Cassville will host the inaugural “Ozarks Got Talent” talent show on July 29 at the mini golf facility’s amphitheater. Acts may be up to five minutes long, and the last day to register is today (Wednesday). The time of the show is to be determines, and there is a $20 registration fee. A cash prize will go to the winner. Anyone interested in showcasing their talent may call 417-846-8954 or fill out a registration form at Zone 4, located at 16007 State Highway 76 in Cassville. Shell Knob nominated for Small Town Showcase
Shell Knob has been nominated in the 2024 Small Town Showcase, where five communities will be featured after voting on the 36 total towns nominated. Voting will close on Saturday, and the five communities with the most votes will be featured in the 2024 Small Town Showcase. Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open
