Wheaton Class of 1973 meeting Saturday at BBQ
The Wheaton High School Class of 1973 invites family, friends, former classmates and neighbors to stop in the shade by Railroad Depot Museum, located at 311 Main St., during 65th Annual Wheaton BBQ on Saturday. Barry and Lawrence County Democrats to meet
The regular monthly meeting of the Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will be held on Thursday at the Angus Branch Steakhouse, located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. Those wishing to eat should arrive by 5:45 p.m. with each responsible for their own meal. Crystal Quade, Democratic candidate for governor, will be the guest. Quade is the current minority leader in the Missouri House of Representatives, from Springfield. All area Democrats and like minded friends are invited.
City of Washburn offering limb collection area
The city of Washburn will allow residents to bring any tree limbs damaged by recent storms to the corner of County Road and Farm Road 1065, the City Lagoon, for disposal on Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Cassville Farmers’ Market open twice per week
The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. Cassville Branch Library events scheduled
Activities at the Cassville Branch Library this week include: Thursday, Toastmasters, 6 p.m. (adults); Friday, Chair Exercise at 9 a.m. (adults); Saturday, Movie Under the Stars at dusk next to the Roaring River Park Store (all ages); Monday, Chair Exercise at 9 a.m. (adults); “Taking Care of You” session three at 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Trivia at 1:30 p.m. (teens/adults). Registration is also now open for fall preschool storytime and homeschool enrichment sessions.
Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open
The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. The Market offers fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers, handmade crafts and more. OATS rides available in Barry County
OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-7706287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.
Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday
The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 479903-3640.
