Softball home opener on Thursday
The Cassville softball team will play its first regular-season home tilt on Thursday, taking on Marshfield at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Wildcats have struggled against stiff competition in the season’s early goings. In the 29th Annual Morrisville Tournament, Cassville topped West Plains, 10-3. Since that Aug. 25 matchup, the Lady Wildcats have eluded victory, falling to Sherwood, 4-0; Carthage, 4-1; Carl Junction, 8-4; and Nevada, 14-0. Cassville played Logan-Rogersville on the road Tuesday after presstime and faces Marshfield Thursday.
Cassville XC shines in Aurora
The Wildcats traveled to Aurora on Thursday to compete in their first meet of the season. Ethan Bohmke was the third senior in four years to win the varsity boys race. The boys finished third overall as a team. The girls team won the meet with a 27 points total.

Volleyball squad starts season with win
The Cassville volleyball team started its 2023 campaign on the right foot, earning a 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-18) win over Blue Eye. The Lady Wildcats won the first set of its next contest against Sarcoxie, but ultimately fell in the match, 3-1 (25-7, 15-25, 22-25, 22-25). Cassville played in the Jasper Invitational over the weekend and hosted Pea Ridge (Ark.) on Tuesday after presstime. The Lady Wildcats travel to Hillcrest on Thursday and return home to face Berryville (Ark.) on Monday.
