Wastewater project enters new phase

A new phase of the wastewater rehabilitation project began on Friday, with open trench construction in the 1300 Block of Park Avenue.

Construction will progress southwest and should advance to Fair Street within 7-10 days. Construction will then progress southwest on Fair to 10th Street.

Through traffic will be prohibited on the block/street when and where excavation is in progress.

*Traffic patterns for the elementary and middle school campus will be impacted; drivers should be prepared to find an alternate route around the construction,” said David Brock, Cassville public works director. “Barricades will be located at the ends of the block to redirect through traffic but local traffic can pass to access their home/ business. Local traffic will need to approach/depart on the appropriate side of the work area so that vehicles do not attempt to pass active excavators and other heavy equipment.”

A lane closure at the intersection of Fair and East 12th Street will also be necessary to accommodate the discharge of a bypass pump.

“Our other active construction crew working along Farm Road 1120 is expected to continue their slow but steady progress back towards town,” Brock said. “A road closure for all traffic will be necessary on Farm Road 1120 in the next week or so and a specific alert will be sent out at that time.”

Another closure will occur Wednesday or Thursday, yet to be determined at presstime due to weather. The closure will be on East 13th Street near Rocky Edmondson Park. This closure will force all Wildwood residents and visitors to access East 13th Street from Highway 248 until construction is complete.
