Lea was raised in a faithful Christian home and accepted Christ as her savior at a young age. Lea grew up and received her education in Cassville, graduating in 1961 from Cassville High School. A few years after high school, Lea worked at the South Barry County Hospital for Dr. Vance Cridling and then she worked for Dr. William G. Barnes at his medical clinic. Later, she worked with Jim at their family trucking company J & L Transportation which they owned and operated for 20 years.
Lea enjoyed her retirement after they sold the business by spending time with her grandchildren and going on trips with Jim. Lea enjoyed staying at home even more and often read and loved watching crime dramas. She was also a very avid Kansas City Chiefs fan from the early 60’s on and attended many games. Most of all she loved and enjoyed her family, especially her grandkids. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cassville and spent many hours in the nursery with her dear friends caring for the babies of the church.
Lea was homebound during the last few years of her life and during that time she received wonderful care from the ladies at Amazing Grace and Compassus Hospice. Lea and her family will be forever grateful for their kindness and care.
Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor James Weaver and Johnnie Cox conducted the services. Burial was at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri.
The family received friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Youth Group in memory of Lea.
