Benefit scheduled for baby Reeves

Dawson Reeves, baby boy of Montana and Esther Reeves, was born on Aug. 31 with HLHS (Hypoplastic left heart syndrome). Dawson has already had one open heart surgery. There will be a dinner, raffle and auction to help the family in need with expenses. All proceeds will go to the family as they are staying in Kansas City. The benefit will be at the Chamber of Commerce Event Center in Seligman, located at 30284 State Hwy. 37 Seligman, MO 65745, on Oct. 22 from 1-4 p.m. On the menu is pulled pork, chips, baked beans, cookies/ muffins and drinks for $10 a plate. Donations are welcomed. Raffle tickets for 2 Camo Air Rifles and Baby Quilt are one for $5 and five for $20 tickets. Food drive at Barry County Brawl benefits Bright Futures

A food drive will be held on Friday at the Barry County Brawl football game between Cassville and Monett at Wildcat Stadium. Those who bring a non-perishable food item to help fill the Wildcat Truck by the concession stand will receive a Brawl-themed sticker. Accepted donations include canned goods, individually wrapped snacks, shel-sustainable meals, crackers and granola bars.

Eagle Rock Library hosting Halloween event

The Eagle Rock Library will join with the Eagle Rock Friends of the Library, the Eagle Rock Community Association and the Eagle Rock Lego Club to present a fun filled evening for Halloween. The Library will kick off the excitement on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. with a spooktacular Lego Club. After the meeting, trunks will be filled with treats and tricks for all the boys and girls to visit. The event we will wrap up at 7 p.m. with a family-friendly Halloween Movie for all to enjoy. This is a free activity for all families to enjoy. Lawrence and Barry County Democrats meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will be held on Oct. 26 at the Angus Branch Steakhouse located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. Those wishing to eat should arrive by 5:45 p.m., with each responsible for their own meal. Russ Carnahan, Missouri Democrat chairman, will be the speaker. All area Democrats and like-minded friends are invited.

Trunk or Treat in Cassville

Cassville Health Care and Rehab, located at 1300 County Farm Road in Cassville, will host a Trunk or Treat from 4-6 p.m. on Oct. 27.

Holiday Craft Fair on Nov. 11

The Barry County Genealogical and Historical Society will host the Second Annual Holiday Craft Fair, in support of the Bayless/ Salyer house, on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendor spaces are available. Southwest NHS sponsors Pumpkin Carving Contest

The Southwest National Honor Society is hosting a pumpkin decorating/carving contest for pre-K to 4th-grade students in late October. The contest will have five categories, including scary/ monster, Barbie and/or Taylor Swift, animal, funny/goofy and sporty/superhero. Pumpkins can be turned in as early as Oct 27. The contest judging will be held in the elementary main hallway on Oct. 31. Senior Center to host Bazaar

The Cassville Senior Center is seeking arts and crafts vendors for a Holiday Craft Bazaar, scheduled for Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center, located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. The cost is $25 per table, and proceeds benefit the Center. Table availability is limited, and people may register at the Cassville Senior Center and pay in person or mail the registration and payment to the Center. Cassville Farmers’ Market open twice per week

The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. The market offers local fresh cut flowers, produce, eggs, baked goods, hand made crafts and more. For more information, people may call 417-846-3539.

OATS rides available in Barry County

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-8879272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.
