There will be no shortage of opportunity for local youth to stock up on sweets in coming days, as multiple trunk-or-treats and Halloween-themed events have been scheduled.
Events kick off on Friday in Cassville, with the Cassville Health Center for Rehab and Healthcare, located at 1300 county Farm Road in Cassville, will host a trunk-or-treat on Friday from 4-6 p.m.
On Saturday, the Cassville YMCA, at 408 Hwy. 248, will join in the holiday action, hosting a trunk-or-treat from 5:30-7 p.m. The YMCA will also host a Bone Run 5K and 1-mile Boo Dash for children on Saturday at 7 a.m.
Also on Saturday, The Eagle Rock Library will join with the Eagle Rock Friends of the Library, the Eagle Rock Community Association and the Eagle Rock Lego Club to present a fun filled evening for Halloween. The Library will kick off the excitement at 4 p.m. with a spooktacular Lego Club. After the meeting, trunks will be filled with treats and tricks for all the boys and girls to visit. The event we will wrap up at 7 p.m. with a family-friendly Halloween Movie for all to enjoy. This is a free activity for all families to enjoy. The 2nd Annual “Trick & Retreat” be held at Shadow Bluffs Retreat, located at 22746 Hwy. 112, south of Cassville, starting at 5 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature the Ghoulympics, games and contests for children; a camp site or cabin decorating contest; a costume contest; trick or treating throughout the campground, and an awards ceremony and chili supper. The event is open only to Shadow Bluffs campers and guests, and the business hopes to expand next year to include activities open to the public.
Area churches will offer sweets and treats on Sunday.
In Cassville, Corinth Baptist Church, at 11453 Hwy. AA, will host a trunk-or-treat, with a potluck dinner provided.
Cassville United Methodist Church, at 601 Gravel St., will host a trunk-or-treat from 4-6 p.m. with a trunk contest, costume contest, food and drinks, games and more. For more information, people may call 417-8472328.
North of Shell Knob at Viola Victory Church, at 29604 Hwy. 39, A Fall Festival Celebration will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. The event will feature bounce houses, games and food, and costumes are welcome.
In Exeter, at Ridgely Assembly of God, at 16544 Farm Road 1027, there will be a trunk-or-treat at 4 p.m., dinner at 5 p.m. and Fifth Sunday Singing at 6 p.m.
No events are set to take place on Monday.
On Halloween on Tuesday, events are set in Cassville, Exeter, Purdy, Washburn and Shell Knob.
In Cassville, First Christian Church, at 905 Old Exeter Road, will host a trunk-or-treat from 6-7:30 p.m. inside the Faith Center Gymnasium.
Emmanuel Baptist Church, at nearby 821 Old Exeter Road, will host a trunk-or-treat from 5-7:30 p.m., also serving coffee and refreshments inside.
Also nearby, Roaring River Health and Rehab, located at 812 Old Exeter Road in Cassville, will host trick-or-treating from 3:30-5 p.m.
Community Faith Chapel Church, at 13372 Hwy. 248 in Cassville, will host a trunk-or-treat from 5:30-7 p.m.
The Cassville Fire Protection District, at 393 Sale Barn Road, will host a drive-thru trunk-or-treat beginning at 5 p.m. Participants are asked to stay in their vehicles.
In Washburn, the Washburn First Baptist Church, at 618 N. 2nd St., will host a trunk-or-treat from 6:15-7:45 p.m., with popcorn, cotton candy and treats provided. There will also be a vote for best-decorated trunk.
In Exeter, Trepidations Haunted Attraction, at 101 E. Commercial St., will host its 4th Annual Trick or Treat from 4-8 p.m.
In Butterfield, the Butterfield Firefighters Auxiliary will host Fire Trucks & Treats from 6-8 p.m., with firefighters handing out candy and information on fire safety. Refreshments will be provided, and there will also be pumpkin decorating available to all.
In Purdy, First Baptist Church, at 308 3rd Street, will host a trunk-or-treat from 5-7:30 p.m.
Finally, down south in Shell Knob, Lakeside Christian Church, at 22321 Oak Ridge Drive, will host a trunk-or-treat from 5-7 p.m.
