Veterans Day assembly on Friday
Cassville High School will host its 35th annual Veterans Day assembly on Friday at 9 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. The public is invited to attend. The assembly will include performances from the Cassville Mass Choir and Concert Band, a demonstration of the Thirteen Folds of the American Flag by the JROTC Color Guard, as well as readings from several student organizations. Seating will open at 8:30 a.m., and any veterans that will be in attendance are invited to sign in at the registration table upon arrival so they can be recognized for their service during the ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony, there will be a reception held in the high school FEMA gym. A catered brunch will be served for all veterans and their family members. SLUDGE meeting set for Friday
SLUDGE, LLC, will host a public meeting at the John Q. Hammons community center in Fairview on Friday at 7 p.m. for residents interested in learning more about the land-application of processed waste in southwest Missouri and the lawsuit SLUDGE filed against the DNR on Oct. 29. The group’s environmental attorney, Stephen Jeffery, of the Jeffery Law Group in St. Louis, will speak at the event. Free chili and dessert will be served.
The Inspirations Quartet to perform in Shell Knob
The Inspirations Quartet, the 2023 Singing News Artist of the Year, will perform in Shell Knob as an area appreciation event hosted by Stumpff’s Realty and Auction Service. The concert will be on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Shell Knob School gymnasium. Duane Garren will emcee the event, and concessions will be available starting at 5:30 p.m., courtesy of the Shell Knob volleyball team. Admission is free, and an offering will be received. Eagle Rock Community Association hosting dinner
The Eagle Rock Community Association will host its annual Fall Harvest Dinner on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The dinner is open to all the public with a free will donation.

Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department hosting groundbreaking
The Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department will host a groundbreaking for its new facility today (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m. Bids will be opened from 10:30-noon, then the group will break for lunch, and the ceremony is at 1:30 p.m.
Lawrence and Barry County Democrats to meet
The regular monthly meeting of the Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will be held on Nov. 16 at the Angus Branch Steakhouse, located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. Those wishing to eat should arrive by 5:45 pm. with each responsible for their own meal. Derrick Nowland, Democratic Candidate for State Representative in the 133rd District will be the guest speaker. All area Democrats and like-minded friends are invited.
Waste Management District to meet
The Southwest Missouri Waste Management District N will hold its monthly Executive Board meeting at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday at Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett. This meeting is open to the public. Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday
The Barry County Genealogical and Historical Society will host the Second Annual Holiday Craft Fair, in support of the Bayless/Salyer house, on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendor spaces are available. Senior Center to host Bazaar
The Cassville Senior Center is seeking arts and crafts vendors for a Holiday Craft Bazaar, scheduled for Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center, located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. The cost is $25 per table, and proceeds benefit the Center. Table availability is limited, and people may register at the Cassville Senior Center and pay in person or mail the registration and payment to the Center. Cassville Farmers’ Market open twice per week
The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. OATS rides available in Barry County
OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.
Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday
The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free.
