Mercy Cassville earns national recognition

Mercy Hospital Cassville has earned a national recognition, named a 2023 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

Mercy Cassville is one of only four hospitals in the state to receive the recognition. Also named in the top 100 list are Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany and Mosaic Medical Center in Albany.

“[Mercy Cassville] is achieving higher quality, securing better health outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost than its peers,” a Chartis press release said.

Chartis is comprehensive healthcare advisory firm comprised of over 750 leading healthcare advisors, physicians, data scientists, nurses, strategists, digital architects, informaticists, and practitioners who possess unrivaled experience helping advance healthcare delivery.

The annual Top 100 Critical Access Hospital recognition program, which is based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™ recognizes outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals.

“Across the nation, top 100 rural providers continue to serve as a source of inspiration for hospital leadership teams and staff working diligently every day to improve the delivery of care within their local communities,” said Michael Topchik, national leader for the Chartis Center for Rural Health. “The list of award winners in each category is as geographically diverse as we’ve seen in some time, which is wonderful to see. We’re thrilled to be able to honor the outstanding efforts of these top performing rural hospitals.”

Among this year’s honorees in the Critical Access Hospital category are two facilities winning their 12th Top 100 award, two hospitals being recognized for the 11th time and 25 first-time recipients.

A complete list of this year’s award winners in each category can be found at https://www. chartis.com/top-performing- rural-hospitals.

Now in its 13th year, the INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Featuring a methodology utilizing publicly available data, the INDEX is leveraged nationwide by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

A recognition event was held at Mercy Cassville on Oct. 24.
