Gerald Devere Young, 91, of Cassville, Mo. passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo.
He was born on August 17, 1932, at Mineral Springs, Mo., the son of Alfred and Dora (Ennis) Young who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Alden Young and Doyle Young; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Rivera and Christopher Rivera and one son-in-law, Bobby James.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Sue Ryan; three daughters, Deborah Sue Ellis of Huntsville, Ark., Regina Kay James of Springfield, Mo., and Tonya Lynn Coones and her husband Lyn of Cassville, Mo.; one son, Kevin Devere Young and his companion Bonita of Exeter, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He attended school in Cassville, Mo. graduating from Cassville High School later attending Monett Junior College where he attained a degree in teaching. He had an extensive work history which ended at Walmart where he worked for 16 years from where he retired. He was saved at the age of 17 and was very involved as a deacon at Victory Baptist Church.
Services were held Friday, November 3, 2023, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend Russell Bishop and Matt Kelley conducted the services. Burial will be at Mineral Springs Cemetery in Cassville, Mo.
