Every year, everyone has one big resolution that they are going to achieve.
How many of you have gone through with your goal? I have never been able to finish anything I have wanted to do. I have always set the bar so high that it was always going to fail no matter what.
I want to lose a ridiculous amount of weight and go somewhere that I know I won’t be able to afford. So, I honestly just stopped making a New Year’s Resolution. It was a waste of time for me.
That was until I started looking at the bigger picture, it’s not just about me! What can I do that may affect people around me? Well, there are so many things that we can do to help!
First off, just be friendly! Smile, hold that door open for someone!
Kindness goes a long way. All most people need is a friendly face.
Second, be a listening ear in our community — sometimes that is all some of our friends need just to talk and get it out. Be there for the ones who have no one to turn to. Be there for the ones who have no one.
Take a drive to our Senior Center, and I bet you will have some of the most interesting conversations you have ever had before.
Donate your time to clean up our parks, towns or neighborhoods. We have such a beautiful place to call home. It is all of our place to keep it in tip-top condition for our families to enjoy now and in the future.
How about spending time at an animal shelter and love on some special animals who desperately need and want to be loved and needed? You never know if you could find the love of your life there! Just being there and showing them that someone cares for them.
So, this year instead of dedicating yourself to a resolution that you may hopelessly fail, maybe this time try to go at it from a different perspective.
Make a New Year’s Resolution that you are sure to be proud to continue for many more years to come!
This year My New Year’s Resolution is to be a helper in my community! I hope you all have had a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!
May this year bring many blessings to you and your families.
