Robert A. “Bob” Smith, 92 passed away on February 27, 2024.

He was born on March 4, 1931, in Sterling, IL to Antionette (Tina) Elizabeth Merlak Smith and Earl Henry Smith, who preceded him in death.

He was the eldest of 12 children, six boys and six girls.

Also preceding him in death was his wife Nadine Armstrong; James Smith; LaDonna (Peaches) Smith Morris; Carolyn Smith; Frank Smith; and his daughter, Barbara Lynelle Smith Caldwell.

Survivors include his children, Robert A. Smith Jr. (Lois) of Whitesburg, Ga., Van Earl Smith of Cassville, Mo., Marnette Smith Ballowe (Bill) of Great Falls, Mont., Melanie Smith McKiernan of Great Falls Mont., and Kenneth Smith (Debbie) of Eureka Springs, Ark.; siblings, Dorothy Hatcher Nicholes, Donald Smith (Gloria), Earlene (Duchess) Cox, Nancy Jarratt (Arnold), Earl Smith (Teresa), Joseph Smith (Maureen) and Toni Bender (Ken); 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Robert and Nadine were active in their church where he was an Elder for 12 years, as well as a song leader. Robert and Nadine enjoyed mission work with Sojourners through the Church of Christ.

He was in the Navy Reserves in Mich. from 1950 – 1954 but his unit was never activated. He was employed by the Chicago Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific Railroad for 12 years and General Distributing for 12 years before retiring.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville, Mo., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Garret Akin will conduct the service.
