Evelyn Bernice (Dryer) Riddle, Age 92, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, long time resident of Cassville, Missouri, passed away on March 5th, 2024, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on November 3, 1931 at Peace Valley, Missouri, to Boyd and Dessie Dryer. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her husband Verdayne.
On August 1st, 1950, she was united in marriage to Verdayne Riddle, at the First Baptist Church in Cassville, MIssouri. To this union were born three children, Susan, Teresa and Jim. Evelyn grew up and received her education in Cassville and graduated from Cassville High School 1949. She attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Evelyn and Verdayne were longtime business owners in Cassville. They purchased their parents’ businesses and combined these two stores into Riddle’s Department Store on the Cassville Square.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville. She was very involved in many activities at First Baptist. Evelyn and Verdayne travelled across the United States and Europe with family and friends. Her greatest love was home and family. She was a woman of great strength, character, and humor. She loved and cherished God and her family. She touched many lives along the way. She is survived by two daughters Susan (Steve) Reid Woodall, Teresa (Greg) Walker and one son Jim (Joan) Riddle. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, John (Sharon) Reid, Sarah Reid, Brie (Jessi) Reid-Swiech, Kimberly (Todd) Kilgore, Kathryn (Reid Lyle) Walker, Kristen (Martin) Halstead, Jay (Jennifer) Riddle, Cortney (Adam) Price, and fourteen great grandchildren. Evelyn leaves a legacy of a loving family. She was dearly loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A private graveside service for family will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville.
