Breger brings journalism experience to award-winning publication

The Cassville Democrat has hired a new sales executive who brings a wealth of journalism experience to the award-winning publication.

Joining the sales team at the Cassville Democrat is Jessica Breger, a native of Austin, Texas. Having traveled throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, Breger moved to Cassville in February 2024.

Breger earned her degree in communications at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla. Upon graduation, she was hired at the Durant Democrat as its sole news reporter, covering all of Bryan County, Okla., until relocating to her home state of Texas. 

“While reporting, I grew a passion for networking in a close community,” Breger said. “I quickly became part of the community through her collaborations with organizations from the Main Street program to the local 4-H and the Rotary Clubs.”

Breger aims to bring the same enthusiasm to her new home in Cassville by engaging with local businesses and organizations in the community.

“We are incredibly excited to find someone with such a strong journalism background to join our team at the Democrat,” said Kyle Troutman, Cassville Democrat publisher and co-owner. “Jessica’s skillset and passion for local newspapers will fit perfectly into our organization and our goals for growth in 2024 and beyond.”

Breger is shadowing Sales Executive Sheila Harris I coming weeks to learn her new position on the job. Harris will also continue working for the Democrat, taking on a larger role reporting for the newspaper while still handling some sales.
