In July, the city of Cassville will begin a targeted inspection program of public and private water service lines.

The program will consist of hydro-excavating two small inspection pits on either side of the water meter and then recording the pipe size and type of pipe materials. The pothole excavations and inspections will not affect water service and will be minimally invasive to public right of way or utility easements.

Approximately 400 water service locations will be completed over a period of three to four weeks. Locations for this round of inspections is the area bound by these streets, (a map is available on the City’s web page):

• Old Exeter/1st Street

• Gravel Street

• East 10th Street

• Fair Street

• Park Avenue

• 14th Street

• Ivey Street

• Sky Avenue

• Sunset Heights

• Rainbow Drive These water service line inspections are being completed with the assistance of grant funds secured from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The results will be incorporated into a system wide water service line inventory; a federally mandated programed intended to locate and replace lead pipes and fittings in water service lines.

Historically there have been very few lead pipes found in Cassville, and yearly water quality testing exceeds state and federal standards for lead levels.
