The Cassville cross country teams competed in Monett and in Willard last week, with the Lady Wildcats producing third-place and runner-up finishes. In Monett, the girls were third, boys fifth, middle school girls second and middle school boys third. In Willard, the Lady Wildcats were second, Wildcats sixth, middle school girls 10th and middle school boys 9th, with multipole larger schools competing in the race. Individual results include:

Wildcats go 1-1 on week

The Cassville boys soccer team (3-3) went an even .500 last week, falling to Monett, 2-1 (OT), then beating Marshfield, 3-1. In the Barry County FutBrawl against the Cubs, Cassville was down 1-0 late in the game when a David Rehbach penalty tied the contest. Monett scored the gamewinner in the first half of overtime, also on a penalty. Against Marshfield on the road, Rehbach put in a pair of goals, and Kaid Williams added another. Preston Driskill and Diego Haros assisted. Cassville played at Crocker on Monday and at McDonald county on Tuesday. The Wildcats host Thomas Jefferson on Thursday, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.

Lady Wildcats earn win

The Cassville volleyball team (2-6) picked up a victory last week at home. The Lady Wildcats fell 3-0 on the road at Berryville (Ark.) on Sept. 16, and the next day, in just the third home game of the season, Cassville defeated Seneca, 3-1 (25-15, 9-25, 26-24, 25-23). The Lady Wildcats ended the week on Thursday at Reeds Spring, falling in straight sets. Cassville hosted Diamond on Monday and traveled to Nevada on Tuesday. The team hosts Lamar on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Purdy picks up pair of home wins

The purdy volleyball team (4-81) picked up a pair of wins on their home court last week. On Sept. 17, the Lady Eagles fell in straight sets to Lockwood, but on Thursday, Purdy bested Golden City, 3-2 (25-14, 20-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-10). The Lady Eagles then topped Northeast Vernon County at home, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-20). Purdy played Wheaton on the road Monday and travels to McAuley Catholic Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. start.
