Lady Wildcats 4th in Clever

The Cassville girls golf team played to a fourth-place finish on Oct. 1 in Clever. Adelee Hendricks led Cassville with a seventh-place finish, matching her placement at the Cassville Invitational. Hendricks shot below 80 for the first time, getting a birdie on the final hole to reach the mark. Also competing were Madison Robertshaw, Gwendylan Harmon and Taylor Yarnall.

Boys soccer bags pair of wins

The Cassville boys soccer team (8-5) strung together a pair of wins last week, the first two of a four-game road swing. Cassville bested Aurora, 8-0 on Oct. 1, then topped New Heights Christian Academy, 6-5, on Thursday. Against the Houn’ Dawgs, Diego Haros led with 4 goals, Christian Burgos netted 3 and Cayden Rhode added 1. David Rehbach provided 3 assists, Haros 2 and Rhode and Burgos 1 each. It was the second shut-out of the season for goalkeeper Logan Wingo and the Cassville defense. Against New Heights, Haros scored 4 goals and Rehbach had 2. Assists were by Rehbach, Haros, Rohde, Burgos and Kaid Williams. Wingo made a season-high 26 saves in the match. Cassville played Monett on the road Tuesday and finishes its road swing on Thursday at Logan-Rogersville, where districts will be played in the first week of November.

Cassville XC runs in Lamar Invitational

The Wildcat cross country runners ran in the Lamar Invitational on Oct. 1. “The competition was tough but our runners ran well,” said Erin Flehmer, assistant coach. The varsity boys finished ninth overall out of 17 teams. The middle school girls team was fifth out of 12 teams, and the middle school boys team was seventh out of 13 teams.

Upward basketball, cheer sign-ups underway

The Upward basketball and cheer program is currently hosting sign-ups for children in kindergarten through sixth grades. Evaluations will be Oct. 28, Oct. 29 and Nov. 2. The deadline to sign up is Nov. 2, and the cost is $50 per children until Oct. 26 and $60 per child from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2. Barry County Bows raffling AR

The Barry County Bows youth archery club is raffling a Wise Arms AR 350 Legend on Oct. 23. Tickets are $20 for one entry or $100 for six entries, and the winning ticket will be drawn by a youth club member on Oct. 23. People may purchase entries from any club member or by call or text to Lindsay Doucet at 443-896-3369. People may also purchase entries by messaging the “4H Archery Barry County” Facebook page. Prize pick-up will be at Quick Draw in Monett, and the winner must be able to pass a general background check. Proceeds from the raffle benefit the Barry County Bows and will be used for equipment.
