Beck publishes 4th children’s book

Cassville resident Lana Beck has published a fourth children’s book, which is dedicated to her nine-year-old grandson.

Self-published through Barnes and Noble, Beck’s story is titled ‘Gideon’s Halloween’ and follows three-year-old Gideon while trick-or-treating.

‘He is scared of Halloween and what it encompasses, but when he goes trick-or-treating with mom and dad, he learns how being brave can pay off,’ Beck said.

The book is self-illustrated, but Beck said she’s always been more happy with writing.

‘I’ve enjoyed writing ever since being a kid in school,’ she said. ‘I really enjoy writing about the people in my life because they are so special.’

Beck said the inspiration for the book came from her family.

‘We like Halloween and like to dress up, and Gideon especially has to be brave because of his type 1 diabetes,’ Beck said. ‘I just connected Halloween with being brave.’

More books are in the works, Beck said, the next release titled, ‘Princess Khloe.’ Beck, with the help of fellow local authors Rachel Moore and MeLinda Wheeler, will be at Barnes and Noble in Springfield on Sunday for a book signing from noon to 2 p.m., and they will be dressed as characters from the book.

‘We will also hand out candy and have drawings for free books,’ Beck said. ‘We are considering doing a local event, too.’

‘Gideon’s Halloween’ may be purchased for $6 from Beck, who may be reached by phone or text at 417-665-9826.

Moore has multiple books for sale at area libraries, including Cassville, Monett, Sarcoxie and Greene County. Wheeler is also sent to release a book soon, a 30-day devotional titled, ‘Lessons From the Master Himself.’
