The Cassville girls basketball team (5-2) is on a 3-game win streak after a Monday night win over Wheaton on the road, 53-22. The Lady Wildcats also defeated Reeds Spring, 40-36, on Dec. 9, and Blue Eye, 41-26, on Thursday. Cassville plays at home on Thursday, hosting Diamond at 7:15 p.m.
Wrestling Wildcats win home tourney
The Cassville boys wrestling team took home the 2nd Annual Cassville Boys Tournament title Dec. 7, finishing the event with three champions, four runners-up and four taking third. Riley James won the 165-pound title, Zach Myers the 190-pound title, and Ethan Sizemore the 285-pound title. In second place were Boni Lopez at 106 pounds, Bradley Stumpff at 120 pounds, Rylen Holman at 126 pounds and Kole Fry at 132 pounds. Third-place finishers included Michael Winchell at 132 pounds, Logan Parsons at 138 pounds, Jaret Hinson at 144 pounds and Mason Rillstone at 157 pounds. The Wildcats on Saturday took fifth place in the CJ Classic Dual Tournament, defeating Fayetteville (Ark.), 53-30 in the fifth-place match. Carl Junction defeated Seneca for the championship. The Wildcats’ next action is at the Harrisonville Christmas Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Cassville Girls Scramble
The Cassville girls wrestling team took the top spot in the 2nd Annual Cassville Girls Scramble, with five champions, one runner-up and four finishing third. Champions included AJ Deaver at 110 pounds, Saige Holman at 145 pounds, Rebekah Fry at 155 pounds and Heather Hall at 190 pounds. Anna Vanderhoef took second place at 145 pounds. Third-place winners included Riley Stumpff at 105 pounds, Jalishia Pelep at 130 pounds, Molly Pickett at 135 pounds and Delight Otto at 235 pounds. Cassville participated in the Nixa Girls Invite on Monday and will compete in the 2024 Lady Mustangs Christmas Clash on Friday and Saturday.
Cassville season starting slow, close games
The Cassville boys basketball team (1-4) is hoping for better results in coming games after starting with just one win in many close games. In the Strafford Tournament, the Wildcats fell to Willow Springs, 51-47, on a late 3-pointer, and to Sparta, 51-38. Cassville finished the tournament with a 48-46 victory over Buffalo. In regular-season action at home, the Wildcats fell to Clever, 55-49, on Dec. 10, and Reeds Spring, 66-30, on Friday. Cassville played at Diamond on Tuesday, then do not play again until Jan. 3, hosting Forsyth at 7:30 p.m.
