Nurse practitioner joins CoxHealth Cassville Clinic

CoxHealth Cassville Clinic is welcoming Shelbi Cockrum, a family nurse practitioner, to its health care team.

Cockrum’s journey began at age 4 when she received a toy stethoscope as a gift. From that moment, she knew she wanted to become a nurse.

Originally from Shell Knob, Cockrum earned her nursing degree at Crowder College in Cassville and later completed a master’s degree in nursing from Chamberlain University.

“My goal has always been to become a provider and care for my community,” Cockrum said. “Ms. Jo, a longtime nurse practitioner, inspired me to fulfill my dreams, and I’m so excited that I have an opportunity to work with her at the clinic for a few short months before her retirement.”

Cockrum focuses on her well-being in her spare time by walking, lifting weights, and treating herself to an occasional massage or pedicure. She also enjoys spending time on the water and exploring new places, which is even more special now that she is building a growing family.

Cockrum says she chose to work at CoxHealth Cassville Clinic because it feels like home.

“This is where I plan to raise my family, and this is the community I love,” she says. “I want to make a difference in people’s lives while preventing disease, and becoming a provider has allowed me to do just that.”

Cockrum is currently accepting new patients. For more information, please visit coxhealth.com.
