Stephen Ray “Steve” Bateman, 69, of Wheaton, Mo. passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at Roaring River Health and Rehab in Cassville, Mo.

He was born March 3, 1955, in Stella, Mo. the son of J.D. and Lahaunta June (Saunders) Bateman, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death were his brother, Jim Bateman and sister, Patricia Pointer.

Survivors include three sons, Jeff Bateman and his wife Korrie of Fairview, Mo., Joey Bateman and his wife Leslie of Stella, Mo. and Jeremy Bateman of Wheaton, Mo.; two brothers, Mike Bateman and his wife Brenda of Cassville, Mo. and Bob Bateman of Exeter, Mo.; one sister, Sheila Hughes of Exeter, Mo. and four grandchildren.

He attended school in Wheaton, Mo., graduating from Wheaton High School in 1973. He was employed by Mitchell Sawmill from 1975 until 2004 when he retired.

He was a member of Solid Rock Southern Baptist Church.

Visitation was held Friday, January 10, 2025 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
