Vicky Diana (Lankford) McGuire, age 74, of Monett, gained her angel wings Friday, February 7, 2025, at 1:30 P.M. while in Barnes Jewish Hospital surrounded by family.
She was a member of Chapter KW PEO, Beta Sigma Phi, Kapa Gama, Missouri Retired Teachers Association and Connection Point Church.
Music was a large part of Vicky’s life. She played in her high school band where she directed the pep band. She was a charter member of the FUMC Monett handbell choir (Alleluia Ringers). Playing handbells for 40 years until she physically was unable to play. She sang in the church choir, Faithful Trio and was part of the community choir that performed The Messiah. Vicky was also part of a praise and worship group, ‘His Praise’, directed by Dale Sullens, that shared the gospel throughout southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas.
A life-long educator, Vicky taught in public schools for twenty-five years. Three years in Purdy and twenty-two years in the Monett school system. Teaching third and fourth grades along with reading intervention. Each year was filled with many memories, but the one at the top of the list is her first year teaching in Purdy when she had forty students in her classroom.
Vicky was given life and preceded in death by Teresa Logan of Miami, OK, whose donation of lungs blessed her for over ten years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mary Carolyn (Foster) and Marvin Lankford; and one sister, Roberta Rhodes, all of Hannibal, MO.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert McGuire of Monett; two sons, Rob (Heather) McGuire and Curtis (Heather) McGuire, all of Monett; one brother, Bill (Pam) Lankford of Hannibal, MO; one grandson, Kris (Breanna) McGuire of Bolivar, MO; four granddaughters, Keegan (Tyler) Scott of Monett, Kalysa McGuire of Springfield, and Sarah and Caroline McGuire of Monett; three great grandchildren, Kameron Scott of Monett and Ivy and Weston McGuire of Bolivar. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved friends and former students.
The family requests that you consider registering for the National Transplant Program and giving the gift of life at organdonor.gov. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Mid-America Family House, St. Louis, or Connection Point Church children’s ministry.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Connection Point Church (formerly First Presbyterian Church, 700 Sycamore, Monett). Interment will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery, Monett. Visitation is planned from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the church. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
