March is School Board Recognition Month in Missouri

Missourians benefit every day from the countless hours devoted by the more than 3,600 local school board members in every community across the state.

These public servants are elected by their neighbors and fellow citizens and do not receive compensation for their efforts. School board members take on the significant responsibility of setting policies, overseeing budgets, and making decisions that directly impact the future of their communities.

During the month of March, communities across the state will honor the dedicated service of local boards of education during School Board Recognition Month as proclaimed by Governor Mike Kehoe. Cassville R-IV School District will honor school board members during the week of March 17-21.

“Cassville is fortunate to have exceptional individuals serving our community as Board of Education members. Our board members are committed to making thoughtful decisions while keeping our students’ best interests at heart,” said Merlyn Johnson, Cassville superintendent. “In a close-knit community like Cassville, our board leadership helps shape opportunities that impact generations.”

School Board Recognition Month is sponsored by the Missouri School Boards’ Association. The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards ensure all students succeed.
